Our Divisions

Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes
and Metabolism

Academic Overview

The UC Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism offers diverse training opportunities for medical students, residents and fellows.

Through our medical student clerkship in endocrinology and metabolism, fourth-year students have the elected opportunity to gain broad exposure to inpatients and outpatients with endocrine diseases.

Students see patients at both the Cincinnati Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center and UC Health University Hospital. They also gain exposure to the care of diabetes mellitus, pituitary disorders, thyroid disorders and thyroid cancer, parathyroid disorders and endocrine disorders of the reproductive system.

Residents in the UC Department of Internal Medicine spend considerable time during their training rotating through inpatient and ambulatory endocrinology clinics, in addition to many other electives and training opportunities.

For physicians desiring more specialized training, our endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism fellowship offers an opportunity to learn basic and advanced endocrinology and acquire the technical and practical skills needed to care for patients with diabetes and disorders of endocrinology and metabolism.

In addition, this training program provides an opportunity to initiate a career in academic endocrinology.
