Rouan Wins 'Courage to Teach Award'
Gregory Rouan, MD, the Richard W. and Sue P. Vilter professor of clinical medicine in the General Internal Medicine Division and associate chairman for educational affairs, was recently awarded the 2010 Parker J. Palmer Courage to Teach Award by the Accreditation Council for Graduate medical Education (ACGME). This honor is awarded to 10 notable program directors each year for finding new and inventive ways to teach residents how to provide quality healthcare.
Dr. Rouan is a talented clinician and educator who has been recognized for his teaching skills by medical students, residents and colleagues. Clinically he is interested in preventive health, and men's health and screening. In addition to his leadership roles, Dr. Rouan serves as vice-dean for extramural affairs in the college of medicine.
Dr. Rouan will be honored for his teaching abilities at the ACGME Annual Educational Conference with a plaque and a check for $1,000.
