Neal Weintraub, MD, director in the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases and UC Heart and Vascular Center, authored an article in the New England Journal of Medicine called "Understanding Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm". Dr. Weintraub has particular research interests in vascular lipid metabolism, oxidative stress and inflammation.
Nelson Watts, MD, professor of medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes and director of the Osteoporosis and Bone Health Program, was quoted in an article called "Splits Form Over How to Address Bone Loss" in the New York Times. Dr. Watts' research interests include osteoporosis and bone health, particularly the study of therapeutic agents and tests for diagnosis and monitoring.
Judith Feinberg, MD, professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases and associate chair of medicine for faculty development, was featured as an expert on the flu virus in an article called "Unless Flu Symptoms Sever, Stay Home Health Experts Advise" for Cox Newspapers. Dr. Feinberg specializes in the study of HIV/AIDS, opportunistic infections in AIDS and other immunocompromised hosts.
Carl Fichtenbaum, MD, professor of clinical medicine in the Infectious Diseases Division, director of the Residency Research Program, associate program director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program and director of the AIDS Clinical Trials Unit, wrote an editorial titled "Everyone Can Help Control H1N1" for the Cincinnati Enquirer. In addition to his many leadership roles, Dr. Fichtenbaum is interested in HIV treatments, immune reconstitution syndrome in HIV, translational research and clinical trials.
