Welcome to the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Cincinnati. Internal Medicine is the specialty of medicine that deals with the prevention, evaluation and management of both common and complex, non-surgical conditions in adults including the elderly. Basically, an internist is an expert in adult medicine, and the evaluation of most adult conditions begins with internal medicine.

The Department is composed of general internists, who specialize in the primary care of adults, and subspecialists in the following areas:

Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine (critical illness, diseases of the lungs and sleep disorders)
