Overview

Clinical faculty in the UC Department of Internal Medicine are members of UC Health, which in partnership with the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, brings together the region’s top clinicians and researchers to provide world-class care to our community.

The internal medicine department comprises more than 200 board-certified physicians who specialize in the prevention, evaluation and management of both common and complex, non-surgical conditions in the following general and medical sub-specialty areas:

• Cardiovascular Diseases (conditions of the heart and blood vessels)
• Digestive Diseases (conditions of the gastrointestinal system including the liver and pancreas)
• Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism (diabetes, bone health and hormonal conditions)
• General Internal Medicine (including medicine-pediatrics)
• Hematology Oncology (cancer and diseases of the blood)
• Immunology, Allergy and Rheumatology (disorders of the immune system and joint diseases)
• Infectious Diseases
• Nephrology and Hypertension (high blood pressure and disorders of the kidneys)
• Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (diseases of the lungs, critical illness and sleep disorders)

Clinical faculty are also members of each of the College of Medicine/UC Health institutes, making the internal medicine department one of the few clinical departments to have representation in all the centers of excellence.The College of Medicine/UC Health institutes include:
